Steel Panther - Cleveland HOB 12/28/2011
by: Michael Strong (Frontrow Sessions Editor & Jedi Rockstar)
So hair metal has been dead for a long time now. someone should have mentioned this to Steel Panther's sold out show at the House of Blues in Cleveland.
From the opening notes of "Supersonic Sex Machine" to the ringing coda of "Death To All But Metal" the band crushed. Many people think of Steel Panther as a joke band, but these cats really can play and sing. Better, actually then most of the bands they pay homage to in a loving parody.
There wasn't a bad note hit during their somewhat short set, which was the only negative thing I could say about the Panther on this night.
They make the show a party and the crowd was so willing to join in. Singing almost every word and playing air guitar. This is what the concert experience should be, a shitload of fun. And what's wrong with spandex, hairspray and searing guitar solos anyways? Death To All But Metal! Indeed.
